Our Term 3 Inquiry.
Today we looked at what an inquiry is and why we have inquiries. Some people were not very sure but Aiden said an inquiry was when you have a problem.
Yes, it starts with a problem or a question - something that you wonder about and really want to know more. The best inquires make a difference to some thing or someone in the end but they all have a reason for finding out more about something we are curious about. At the end of each stage in your inquiry you should take a look at what you know now, reflect and decide what other things you need to find out.
Our 'big question is" How can we be involved in a school fair?
First we had to be sure we knew what a fair was so we got into our work groups and wrote down all the things we know are at fairs.
These are some of our ideas:
After we had talked about the things on our list and thought about how much fun a fair is we looked at the big question : How can we be involved in a school fair'.
We got back into our work groups and started a KWL chart to show what we know, and begin some wonderings.
We are beginning to ask questions, find out what we already know and share these ideas with others in our class. But there is so much more to find out and do to make our fair successful on the day.
Share our journey with us......

Making butter.
Yesterday, in Room 7 with the help of Mrs.Simons, we made butter.
Mrs.McGillivray asked if anyone had ever made butter before. When she found that no one had she organised the things needed to give it go.
It was so much fun and we had a song to go with it. This is how it goes: 'Come butter come, come butter come, Johnny's at the garden gate waiting for his butter cake.'

The ingredients were cream and a pinch of salt and shake, shake, shake!
